At this stage, children begin to discover their sense of identity; and start to develop self-awareness, as well as awareness of the continuously evolving world they inhabit. Thus, our major aim for students of Primary years is to help them build competences that prepare them for the world. In our pursuit of academic excellence, we develop children as independent learners, who construct their knowledge by drawing upon their own experiences. This helps them develop critical-thinking and analytical skills. It also allows them to reflect and understand their own learning process; and make wise choices on how to move forward.

Accordingly, rather than emphasising on factual knowledge, we encourage students to create conceptual knowledge - from their own experience, from those of people at home and in the community, libraries, and from sites outside the school. The result: a deeper, meaningful learning. We believe that knowledge is not to be fragmented into disciplines and subjects. Accordingly, our teaching-learning approach takes into account that any concept can be best understood by appreciating how it is linked with others. For instance, the concept ‘The food we eat’ cannot be taught separately in Science as a nutritional analysis and in Social Science as the types of food eaten by various communities. Our teachers guide students in this journey of integrated knowledge. Learning through leadership is an important part of our curriculum. Every student is exposed to various leadership opportunities (for example, as a group leader in a collaborative project); gets the opportunity to follow (to develop different types of team skills, responsibility, and resourcefulness), and hones the skills to take autonomous and thoughtful decisions.
